one of my favorite things about the race is the community. being able to live with 45 people has been one of the most challenging and most rewarding things about the race! i’ve been blessed with a team that genuinely fits me so well and that includes my sweet team leader bernadette!!! bern is all things fresh and light! she walks in so much grace. seriously i don’t know how she does it. team shalom would not be shalom without bern! sitting and chatting with bern always leaves me better than i was before. she paints the sweetest picture on each person she meets! you invite people in so well and always leave space for more!! thank you bernadette<33 the Father is calling you into SWEETER AND SWEETER THINGS as you keep walking with Him.

oh bern! our team has felt so incomplete without you here this week! our hearts want you here but know you are exactly where you need to be! you lead our team so well and truly set us up to flourish this week- even though we feel incomplete. when i think of you, i think of all our insane tuk tuk rides listening to noah kahan, waving to our hope school kids, or even you taking my phone to video outside of the tuk tuk. i think of our sweet koi dates or our sweet talks while gardening. i think about how intentional you were when you first met our little team, and how you continue to be so intentional even now, seven months later! i miss you dettie- and can’t wait to hug your sweet self!

A woman of Joy, gentleness, boldness, and celebration!
Bern is someone that always seeks people out & loves to just sit with others in anything they have on their heart.
She makes me feel heard, valued, and wanted daily!
One of my favorite memories of Bern was on our first tuk tuk ride in Cambodia. We were headed to our hostel in Phnom Penn from the airport.
As we were squished in this little vehicle- we shared laughter & joy in all the newness. Bern turned to me & said she needed to listen to a song real quick & put on her big Bose headphones that make her look so cool lol (but like they actually do.) This moment really stuck with me. She makes special little moments out of the mundane. She treasures life.
I admire the way she celebrates & she’s taught me that the Lord is always celebrating WITH us!

Bernadette J Beacham! You are one of my favorite people. true story. I love the woman you are and encourage our team to be. Thank you for everyday that you show up for us amidst hardships, yours and ours. I remember the time at training camp when we went to the doctor for my chest pain. It was so much fun to go around town with you to the doctor, walgreens, chick-fil-a, a different walgreens, and finding my sister and her friend at our last walgreens. I felt like I was hanging out with an old friend. It made me really excited for us to become old friends, not only long time friends but old lady friends too. I love you so big! p 💋

Bernadette. A woman that carries the true joy of the Lord. Someone so genuine in constant encouragement, that I didn’t believe her at first!! A wealth of wisdom, knowledge, and loads of laughter. I don’t have one specific memory that stands out as a favorite because I’ve truly grown to cherish every day with her!! One of my favorite seasons with her, however, was when we shared a room in Cambodia. She patiently taught me how to play guitar there, watched Gilmore girls, gave advice, listened to me cry, challenged me, and taught me how to walk out and live in freedom. Bernadette knows how to make every moment special, celebrate those around her as the Lord would, and continually leads us back to the feet of Jesus. I LOVE BERNADETTE J BEACHAM!!!
