Where is your treasure?

Matthew 6:19-21 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

A few nights ago I was reading Matthew 6 and it really got me thinking… am I willing to give up everything, all of my comfort, to follow Jesus? My treasure should not be found in material things, but in hearts. Winning people’s hearts for Christ should be my biggest treasure!

This scripture was so encouraging to me because the other day I was struggling with doubt and feeling like other people close to me could use the money i’m raising for something more “beneficial”. But what’s more beneficial than the Gospel of Jesus Christ?? The next morning I was on my way to school listening to worship music and just praying and asking God why I felt so much doubt and guilt about raising so much money to go on this trip. Thankfully He gently reminded me most people here in America may not be physically wealthy but most people have the opportunity to become spiritually wealthy. At least here in my community there is a church on practically every corner. He is sending me to a place where they are neither physically or spiritually wealthy. What a joy to share the gospel of Jesus to people who are desperate for The Savior!!

  1. When we were in Las Vegas, we had an uber driver from Cuba and we were talking about the homeless and how bad it is there. You mention about us being wealthy, you are correct. Even our homeless are rich in comparison to those in many other countries. We have places here where they can get food and shelter, in places like Cuba, that is not the case. Here we have those that are called that take the church to the homeless, in other countries, again, that is not the case. What you are doing is wonderful. We are not all able to go out and do what you are about to do because we can’t afford to, but together, we can make it possible for someone that has the heart for it, as you do, to go for us. By giving to help you go, I feel like I am going as well. You are truly being the hands and feet of God as we are called to be. You’ve got this!

  2. We are so excited to see how God is using you!
Continue to pray and trust God in all things.
